Super easy and quick spot nail art

This is mega easy and can be achieved in minutes. Use different colour polishes to give a completely different look. Dotting tools are super cheap and so simple to use.

Step 1: paint your nails in a dark base shade, I used a mua black polish.
Step 2: wait for it to dry.
Step 3: use a small dotting tool to cover the nail in small dots.

Blue spot diagonal pattern

This is quite quirky and surprisingly easy to do. I used the same polishes as in the blue flower nail art.
Step 1: paint half your nail diagonally in the pale blue shade.
Step 2: paint the other diagonal half in the dark blue shade, try and do it neatly put if you spill over slightly it doesn't really matter as it's covered by the silver stripe.
Step 3: wait for it to dry then carefully put a silver line between the two shades. I used a small dotting tool to make it neat or you could use a striping brush or tape.
Step 4: paint pale spots onto the dark shade using a dotting tool, use different tools to get different sizes.
Step 5: paint dark spots onto the pale shade using a dotting tool, use different tools to get different sizes.
Step 6: wait for it to all dry properly then finish with a top coat.

My nail art supplies

First off you want a good range of nail polishes in a variety of colours

Nail art pens are quite affordable and can make nail art simple as they have a pen top for precise design and a thin brush.
Dotting tools are amazing, they are so cheap but can make your nail art so much quicker and more professional. In a packet you get 4/5 and each end is a different size so you get 8/10 different dot sizes. They are perfect for spots, flowers etc.
Nail art brushes are another cheap, must have item for nail art. You get a variety of types in a packet enabling you to achieve so many more designs.

Nail stickers are very easy to use and perfect if you want nail art but are short on time.
Nail wraps are another easy alternative if your nail art skills aren't too neat. They come in lots of patterns and are quite affordable.
Glitter can make nails look fun and the look is perfect for parties. It is really cheap but a little messy!!
Gems or diamanté are quite fiddly to apply but can look stunning. It gives a 3d effect which looks really professional. They are available in various colours, sizes and shapes.
Nail art caviar is fun to do and the result looks cute and quirky.
Nail art striping tape is quite thin and fiddly but is good for achieving straight, even lines.

Making glitter look more effective

By the addition of a base colour, the glitter can stand out a lot more, making it look much more professional.

Step 1: paint your nails in a bright base colour, I chose white.

Step 2: wait for it to dry then pain over it in your glitter polish. I used rimmel I love lasting finish in shade 500 disco ball. The white really brings out the glitter, otherwise it wouldn't be very noticeable.

Cute cupcake nail art

This is really simple to achieve but looks quirky and eye catching.

Step 1: paint just over half your nail in a simple background colour, I used Barry m nail paint in shade 303-bright purple
Step 2: paint the other half in an opaque white. I used gallery colours in shade 236-white lightening.
Step 3: where the background colour and the white join, using a dotting tool make a dotted line.
Step 4: use a dotting tool to make a large red spot for the cherry.
Step 5: using a smaller dotting tool, take a contrasting colour and make dots at regular intervals.

Step 6: using the same size dotting tool and a different colour add some more dots.
Step 7: wait for it all to dry, then finish with a top coat :)

My favourite glitter polishes

Glitter nail polish is bang on trend right now. They often require several coats but the end result is stunning.

I love this multicoloured glitter nail polish. It is beautifully bold and goes well with many outfits. This polish is W7-shade 37

Another gorgeous glitter is Rimmel I <3 lasting finish in 500 disco ball. I'm a big fan of Rimmel nail polishes and this is no exception.

My overall favourite sparkly nail polish is Sally Hansen HD in shade 14 Spectrum. It applies really nicely and has a wonderful finish.

My favourite nail polishes for nail art background

Strong, simple colours work best as the background for nail art as they allow the design to really do the talking!

My overall favourite is Rimmel Salon pro-713 Brit pop.

Another one of my favourites is Seventeen Supreme Shine in the shade Wave.

The final one I really like is Barry M- 303 Bright Purple.

Blue flower and spot nail art

This nail art is relatively easy if you have a dotting tool. If not you can pick up a pack of 5 from ebay or amazon for £1/2. I will show you various flower and spot designs that are all simple and achievable.

For this tutorial I used an accessorize polish-green lagoon for the base colour. The flower petals and the blue spots were painted in rimmel salon pro-713 Brit pop. The silver spots and centre of the flower were painted in gallery colours- silver sparkle 419

Step 1: Paint 1/2 coats of green lagoon and wait for the last coat to dry.
Step 2: Using a dotting tool paint 5 dots in the shape of a flower with the Brit pop polish.
Step 3: Using the opposite end of the dotting tool paint approximately 5/10 blue dots equally spaced on the nail.
Step 4: Once the blue is completely dry paint a silver spot in the centre of your flower using a slightly smaller dotting tool.
Step 5: Using the opposite end of that dotting tool paint approximately 5/10 silver dots equally spaced across the nail.
Step 6: Once all your nail art is completely dry, finish with a coat of clear nail polish to make your beautiful nails last longer.

I did a similar design using barry m gelly polish in guava and gallery colours white polish. I then finished the look with a gemstone in the centre of the flower.

On this design I love how the ring finger is the accent nail which draws a nice focus to the piece.

Step 1: paint your nails with two coats of a pretty base polish, I used rimmel salon pro in Brit pop.
Step 2: use a small dotting tool to paint white dots over all your nails except your ring finger.
Step 3: use a slightly larger dotting tool to make 5 dots in the shape of a flower on the top corner of your nail.
Step 4: repeat step 3 in the bottom corner of your nail.
Step 5: use a small dotting tool to fill the space on your ring finger with dots.
Step 6: use a small dotting tool to do black nail polish in the centre of your flower.

This design features one larger flower in the centre and is easier if you are new to nail art because it is bigger you don't have to be as precise.

Step 1: paint your nails in a light base colour, I used a white gallery colours polish.
Step 2: wait for it to dry and then paint 5 blue spots in the shape of a flower using a dotting tool.
Step 3: wait for your blue spots to dry, then using a smaller dotting tool paint a black spot in the middle of your flower.
Step 4: use a silver glitter polish and a dotting tool to add a spot to each corner.
